Call for Proposals

Films for the Feminist Classroom (FFC) welcomes the submission of film review proposals. FFC aims to provide a critical assessment of the value of films as pedagogical tools in the feminist classroom.

FFC reviews highlight themes that instructors may usefully touch on in presenting these films to students in addition to providing a critique of the films' scholarly relevance, underlying assumptions, modes of presentation, and rhetorical strategies. We also ask reviewers to include information on readings and/or other resources that teachers may use in conjunction with the films, as well as strategies for working with the films in class. Film reviews may discuss either a single film or cluster of related films. For further information on reviews refer to these guidelines.

We request that film review proposals include the following:

• Film or films to be reviewed – include film title, distributor, director, and release year.
• Themes to be discussed in the review.
• Prospective reviewer’s CV.
• Prospective reviewer’s e-mail address, phone number, and mailing address.

Reviews published in FFC are intended to be scholarly in nature. The submission of a proposal to review a film or films is taken as confirmation that the reviewer does not have a vested interest in the film(s) or a relationship with the filmmaker(s) that creates a conflict of interest.

FFC accepts film review proposals on a rolling basis. Please submit proposals as Word document attachments via e-mail to: FFC@signs.rutgers.edu
